Atkins Diet - The 4 Steps In Order To Reduce Your Extra Fat For Healthful Living

The adkins diet has been hot for a long period of time. Day by day people are choosing it as their weight loss method and every day people shed weight as a result of it. Some people stick to it casually by trying to drop most carbohydrates and sugar from their food and drink, while others follow the program the way it was intended to be followed.

The adkins diet has 4 phases. These phases are induction, ongoing weight loss, pre-maintenance, and lifetime maintenance. The amount of carbohydrates and food that you can have changes with each phase. Let's have a detailed look at how the phases of the Adkins diet plan work.

Induction is the first phase of the Adkins diet. During induction you're only permitted 20 grams of Net Carbs everyday. Food option is incredibly limited to mainly protein, salad greens, and non-starchy vegetables. In this phase, your body detoxes from all of the sugar and protein that it's accustomed to. Some people assert they gain increased energy through this phase, while others report fatigue while the body adapts to swapping from carbohydrate burning to fat burning.

The next phase is continuing weight loss, also known as OWL. During OWL you increase your carbohydrate intake by reintroducing a larger assortment of foods back into your diet. Every week you'll slowly increase the amount of carbohydrates that you eat until your weight loss stops. At that moment, you'll reduce 5 grams of carbohydrates and follow that many carbohydrates per day for the rest of your OWL phase. Though switching from induction to OWL will decrease the speed at which you drop weight, you will still see constant weight loss from week to week. OWL is easier to follow due to having more food varieties.

When you are less than 5 to 10 pounds away from your weight loss target, you'll move to pre-maintenance phase. With this phase you'll add an additional 10 grams of carbs back to your diet weekly until your weight loss almost flattens. You still want to be dropping weight at this point, but the weight you lose will be extremely slow and almost unperceivable. Like with the preceding phase, you'll be reintroducing more food options to your diet. By moving to this phase, you will lose your last 5 to 10 pounds very slowly while also training your body for the next and final stage, the fashion you'll be eating for the rest of your years to maintain your weight.

The last phase of the Adkins diet is lifetime maintenance. Your food intake doesn't vary much from phase three to phase four. Lifetime maintenance phase is a low carb diet, though less restrictive than in the beginning, it's still a low carb diet and you will have to adhere to it for the rest of your life to maintain your weight loss by means of Adkins.

For some people, the Adkins diet is a suitable way to lose weight. For others, it's torture. If you can stick to the four phase plan you will definitely see outcome. Sticking to it, like any diet, is the most difficult part though.
